A nearby world, different from this one, yet very close.
This year, I used Bianco di San Giovanni, a traditional pigment I obtained from the historic Zecchi shop in Florence. Through gradual carbonation, it forms calcite and becomes increasingly stone-like. I use this unique quality to create the texture of the skin.
I am drawn to its mineral quality—different from both plaster and gofun—and to the lifelike softness of skin that seems to hold light within.
