About the Materials
The works are made using stone powder clay as a base, combined with mineral powders, natural soil, pigments, plaster, paper, and other materials. The combinations vary from work to work, with each mixture adjusted according to the qualities needed for its form, color, and surface. The works are not fired but harden as they dry. Their properties and textures vary depending on the mixture, but overall, they are similar to slightly rough plaster.
On Materials
The main reason I use this material is that the way a work is seen is not predetermined by a specific material name or its established value. While soft, it can accept different substances, and after drying, it can be repeatedly carved, layered, and peeled away. The cracks, irregularities, layers of powder, and settled color created through this process remain on the surface as traces of the time spent making the work. Rather than presenting the material itself, I explore a state in which human emotion, the time of the earth, and small, personal time can be seen quietly layered within it.
Finish and Care
The works are finished with multiple protective layers and are intended for long-term display under normal indoor conditions. Although relatively lightweight, slender and pointed areas are delicate. Please avoid strong impact, prolonged exposure to water, and outdoor display. The combination of materials varies from work to work.
