Exhibition Statement
【Aerial Morea】
Countless fine particles gather and intertwine to form an image. Then, through their own internal order, a structure is built and appears as an individual object. The transformation of the atmosphere caused by that object within a single space—
This is my third solo exhibition at GOTTA. The exhibition is based on the theme of an imaginary phenomenon called “Air Morea”, and presents a new study of the forms that emerge where the human heart and stone-like earth intersect. At the beginning of 2026, I moved my studio from a former space filled with deep shadows to a new studio rich in light. This brought a significant change to my practice. I spent my days facing my figurative objects with a renewed perspective. Beginning that same year, I also embarked on extensive research into stone and earthen particles from both Japan and abroad, continued my observation and dialogue with forms that seem to embody people, and deepened my exploration of the relationships between the objects themselves. All of these experiences form the foundation of this exhibition. Having spent much of the past six years working in shadowed environments, incorporating light—things that contain light, transparent things— into my work became a new mode of expression. At the same time, it was also an attempt to open my own eyes to the presence of forms that had previously remained unseen.
Question
When the human heart and the time of stone intersect, what kind of form emerges there?
